PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Sherpao said on Thursday that tribesmen had rendered matchless sacrifices in the ongoing war against terrorism and they deserved maximum compensation in order to bring them back into the national mainstream.
In a statement on Thursday, he criticised the government’s compensation plan of giving Rs0.3 million each to the relatives of the dead and Rs100,000 each to the injured persons in the recent blast at Jamrud in Khyber Agency and added that the government should shun discriminatory policy towards the people of Fata.
He demanded the government to announce the same compensation amount to the victims of terror incidents in Fata as is given to the dead and injured victims in other parts of the country.
He said that since 9/11 the tribal belt had suffered the most in the war against terrorism and its total infrastructure had been destroyed.
He said the tribal people were facing numerous problems and such an attitude by the government would increase their sense of deprivation.
He asked the government to stop the discriminatory policy towards tribal folks and announced mega projects in the area in order to bring them on a par with the rest of the country.
