ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Law Justice and Human rights Thursday met under the Chairmanship of Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk.
The chairperson National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) briefed on its activities during 2014 to June 2015.
She stated about NCSW mission introduction and monitoring of its progress implementation and promotion of laws and support system.
She told about legislation regarding review of the Draft Juvenile Justice System Bill 2015 Cyber Crime Bill anti rape Bill and electoral Reforms for which NCSW sent recommendations for electoral reforms to the Parliamentary Election Reforms Committee to ensure full participation of women in election as contestants and voters. NCSW also working for institutional strengthening research and publication on litigation related to women under Nizam e Adl.
While considering the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2014 (Amendment of Article 51) for enhance of women from minorities for representation in the National Assembly Senate as well as in Provincial Assemblies.
The committee decided that the Bill may be referred to Electoral Reform Committee for implementation of the needful.
The body decided to defer the Holders of Public Exchequer (Accountability) Act 2015 Moved by Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj MNA and the National Accountability Ordinance (Amendment) Bill 2015 Moved by Muhammad Ayaz Soomro MNA due to their absence in the meeting.
MNAs Justice (Retd) Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema Chudhary Muhammad Ashraf Mohsin Shah Nawaz Ranjha Sardar Muhammad Amjad Farooq Khan Khosa Kiran Haider Syed Ayaz Ali Shah Sherazi Syed Naveed Qamar Eng. Ali Muhammad Khan Advocate Munaza Hassa Moulana Muhammad Khan Sherabni Aisha Mumtaz Ahmed Tarar and Asiya Naz Tanoli attended the meeting while mover Asiya Nasir MNA was also present.
