PTI, PPP initiate action against discipline

violators in Mansehra

MANSEHRA: The PTI and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have moved legal forums against five own councillors whose votes paved the way for installation of the PML-N district government in Mansehra.
“We have served show-cause notices and launched legal formalities to get our four councillors de-seated who voted for the rival contenders. One of them remained absent from the process,” Shafahat Ali, contender of district nazim told reporters on Monday. Shafahat Ali had lost to his rival PML-N contender Said Ghulam, by five votes in the election held on Sunday.
According to Ali, Shehryar Khan, nephew of Senator Azam Khan Swati, elected from Oghi tehsil and Uzma Baseer and Saeed Luqman Gill elected on seats reserved for women and minorities, respectively, voted for the PML-N contender against the party line. He said Urooj Kaleem, another PTI woman councillor, who was elected on the seats reserved for women, remained absent during election process.
Shafahat Ali said that show-cause notices were served on all four to clarify their position.
He said that besides issuing show-cause notices to these councillors, who committed floor-crossing, legal formality was also started de-seat them.
