PTI woman councillor in Bannu receives threats

PESHAWAR: A woman councillor belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in Bannu district has been threatened with dire consequences if she took oath of her office, sources said.
The sources said that PTI woman councillor Maroof Salim, who was elected on the reserved seat for women for the District Council, received a letter reportedly sent by the militants.
“She has been warned against taking the oath,” an official pleading anonymity said. He added the envelope carrying the letter also contained Rs1,000 with the instruction to buy a coffin for her.
Maroof Salim, who has done Masters in Business Administration, is the president of PTI Women Wing in Bannu.
It was learnt that the women councillors will not be taking oath due to a dispute at two polling stations in Bannu.
