6,500 tons relief goods provided to flood victims

LAHORE: The Punjab government has provided 6,500 tons of relief goods of one billion rupees through 900 trucks to flood victims.
This was disclosed by DG PDMA Jawad Akram while giving a briefing to the Cabinet Committee on Flood here on Friday. He said the PDMA Punjab had constructed 12 warehouses with the cooperation of European Union in various cities including Muzaffargarh and Lahore with capacity of storing 7,500 metric tons where relief items will be stored.
Jawad Akram said survey report of losses to the houses and crops of flood-hit areas had been started coming and after completion of survey, third party audit will be conducted. He said provision of financial assistance will be started in the second week of September. He said 75 percent survey work in Mianwali, 100 percent in Khushab and Bhakhar, 60 percent in Layyah, 70 in Muzaffargarh and DG Khan, 65 percent in Rajanpur and Rahimyar had been completed.
Jawad Akram told that all district administrations had been directed to complete survey upto August 31.
