ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday said the government is striving hard to revive the country’s economy and the policies of the present government are in the right direction and are producing positive results.
Addressing the Best Achievement Awards Ceremony of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) at Aiwan-e-Sadr, the President said that the nation should play its role in the completion of all development projects. He further said that people should not tolerate any hurdle in this regard because the completion of these projects would generate economic activities and stabilize the country’s economy. He said the whole country is united against corruption adding that now he is confident the situation of the country would further improve. He underscored that construction of water reservoirs is need of the hour. “The government has initiated construction of water reservoirs including Bhasha and Diamer dams”, he added.
Paying tribute to traders and industrialists of Sialkot, the President noted with appreciation that there are almost negligible bank defaulters in Sialkot and called upon all the classes of the country to follow into the footsteps of traders and entrepreneurs of Sialkot in this regard. He emphasized upon traders, exporters and industrialist to tap the potential in African and Central Asian markets along with traditional markets for export of their productsbecause the governments and traders of these regions also desire to enhance trade with Pakistan and initiate joint projects. He called upon the traders and entrepreneurs to take advantage of emerging new trends in these regions.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Defence and Water & Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif said the electricity loadshedding would almost end in the country in the next two years. He further said the distribution system of electricity has improved and this can now bear the load of additional 2500MW as compared to last two years.
The President also distributed achievement awards amongst the best performing traders and industrialists of SCCI.Later, President Mamnoon Hussain appreciated the role of Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD) in imparting professional education and producing graduates who could add value to the textile industry thereby boosting Pakistan’s exports.
While chairing 4th meeting of the Senate of PIFD at Aiwan-e-Sadr which was attended by members of the Senate of PIFD and high officials of President’s Secretariat. The meeting reviewed matters pertaining to PIFD and took important decisions to further raise its standard.
The President advised PIFD to extend maximum facilities to deserving students for foreign training to hone their skills by providing them international exposure. He said that faculty plays an important role in the success of any institution and therefore we must also pay attention to training institutions to enhance the capacity of the existing faculty.
