ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid on Sunday said irrespective of it what two influential leaders of the ruling party had said the government had no intention to launch investigation to ascertain who was actually behind the dharnas staged last year at D-Chowk.
Talking to ‘The News,’ he said irrespective of it what Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif remarked some days back, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had already given a clear political roadmap in his recent televised speech, so it was now quite clear what the government thought about the demands for investigation to dig out who was behind the sit-ins.
“Pakistan has been facing multiple challenges especially relating to security and economy so the ruling PML-N is looking forward to embark the country on the path of progress and prosperity,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif demanded of the federal government to form a parliamentary commission to investigate who was behind the PTI and PAT sit-ins.
He said the prime minister gave a very loud and clear message in his speech and it was enough to ascertain that the incumbent government wanted to introduce tolerance in the political culture of Pakistan.
The minister said the ruling party showed a graceful and restrained response over the report of the Inquiry Commission because it wanted to move ahead leaving behind the past bitter memories.
To a question, he said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held detailed discussion with the leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and tried to convince them for taking back resolution seeking de-seating of PTI MNAs.
Replying to another question, he said JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman had stated if the government removed the word ‘religious terrorism’ from 21st Constitutional Amendment, they would take back the resolution against the PTI members.
