FAISALABAD: Faisalabad-Sargodha Division Central Special Judge Sohaib Ahmad Roomi on Saturday awarded 18 years imprisonment to Iftikhar Ansari, son of PML-N MNA Haji Akram Ansari, in a fraud case.
The court also awarded different counts of imprisonments and a collective fine of Rs 10 million to seven other accused who were on bails. The convicts had inflicted a colossal loss of millions of rupees to the government by preparing forged refund vouchers in connivance with income tax officer Anwar Naz, supervisor Muhammad Ashraf, inspector Muhammad Aslam, bank manager Faisal Latif and the bank employees, Muhammad Akram, Nadeem Ahmad and Abdur Rahim, under ‘Electricity Bills Refund Claims’ in 2009.
