LAKKI MARWAT: The rural and urban localities of the district are under the grip of hot weather for the last two days, forcing the people to stay indoors. Heatwave and harsh weather coupled with power outages added to the miseries of local residents. The bazaars and markets present a deserted look after 11am and traffic remains thin on the main busiest Bannu-Mianwali road passing through Lakki city, which connects Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Punjab. “The consistent and prolonged electricity outages have made the sizzling heat unbearable,” said a resident in Lakki city. He said that the excessive loadshedding had multiplied the distresses of people especially women, children and aged. “The residents of several urban localities are faced with the shortage of drinking water,” another resident maintained.
