Punjab to spend more on health, education than Sindh, KP

ISLAMABAD: The three provinces that have presented their respective budgets in the provincial assemblies have made their priorities evident as Punjab will be spending the most percentage of its budget on education and health and least percentage of the budget 2015-16 on the development as compared to Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Punjab will spend more on education and health in terms of percentage of budget than Sindh and KP while KP will spend more percentage of its budget on development while Punjab will be at number three among the three provinces to spend on development. Interestingly, Sindh will spend more chunk of its budget on health facilities than the KP.
Punjab will be spending 21.4% of its budget 2015-16 i.e. 310.201 billion on education from its total budget of 1447.242 billion. While KP will spend Rs97.54 billion on education that makes 19.99% of the total Rs487.88 billion budget. Sindh will be spending Rs144.67 billion out of the total Rs739 billion budget on education sector thus making it 19.5% of the budget.
While on Health Facilities it is again Punjab that leads the other two provinces in terms of the percentage of budget being spent on health. Punjab will be spending 11.5 % of its budget i.e. Rs166.13 billion on health while Sindh will be spending 7.7% of budget i.e. 57 billion on health facilities which is apart from the billions that would be spent on medical education. While KP will be spending least on the health facilities. It will spend Rs29.95 billion that is only 6% of the budget on health.
When it comes to development, KP will be spending the most percentage of its budget on development projects while Punjab will be spending the least according to the budgets figures. KP will spend Rs174.88 billion i.e. 35.8% of its budget on development while Sindh will spend Rs214 billion out of the total 739 billion which makes its development expenses at 29%. Punjab will be spending Rs400 billion on development during the fiscal years 2015-16 which is 27% of the total budget.
Moreover Punjab has allocated about Rs110 billion for maintaining law and order while Khyber Paktunkhwa will spend Rs32.74 billion on improving the capability of the police department. The KP province will receive Rs30 billion from the federal divisible pool for the War on Terror.
Likewise Sindh has allocated Rs65.33 billion for law and order. Out of this figure, Rs61.82 billion have been allocated for the Sindh Police, Rs2.43 billion for the Rangers and Rsl.05 billion for the Frontier Constabulary and Rs1.52 billion for training and research in law and order.
