MANSEHRA: The Hazara University has dispatched a preliminary report on firing and hand-grenade attack to its chancellor (governor) and constituted a six-member committee to probe the matter to forestall such incidents in future.
The report said that it was purely a clash between student groups, which erupted when a group of students beat up a security guard after he intercepted a car being driven by a student into university premises.
A six-member committee headed by heads of different departments would probe and also give its recommendations to curb such incidents in future. “Such incidents are never acceptable and cannot be tolerated at any cost at this great seat of learning. Violence can harm studies of students who gather here from different parts of the province for education,” said a press release issued by the university.
It further said that anybody found guilty would be dealt under strict rules so that in future nobody could dare to commit such crime.Eight people, including six students, were injured in a hand-grenade attack carried out by a students’ group at Hazara University a day earlier. A student of Psychology Department,Rehman, attempted to enter the university from the main gate. The security guard on duty intercepted the car. He asked the student to identify his female companion in the car but Rehman instead of revealing the identity of his companion, fired shots into the air. Later, other students also intervened and during the chaos, an unidentified person threw a hand-grenade.
