Bilawal Bhutto returns home after six months
KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto returned to Pakistan on Monday after six months.The young PPP leader left for Bilawal House immediately after reaching Karachi airport from Dubai.On his visit to Pakistan, Bilawal is expected to hold rallies in Punjab. He will also mobilise his party workers and voters for the LB polls in Punjab and Sindh.Bilawal left Pakistan in November last year amid rumours of conflict with his father, Asif Ali Zardari. He also did not return to Pakistan on the death anniversaries of his mother Benazir Bhutto and grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.In April, Asif Zardari told media persons that Bilawal was immature and that he would take part in active politics at an appropriate time.

FC recovers weapons,explosives in Turbat, Khuzdar
QUETTA: Balochistan Frontier Corps busted a gang of suspected militants during a search operation in the Rodband area of Turbat district on Monday evening.A spokesman for the FC here said the FC teams also seized a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives from their possession. “The arrested suspects have been shifted to some unknown location for interrogation,” he added. Earlier, an FC team raided a house in Khatan area of Khuzdar district and arrested a militant along with weapons. The raid was made on a tip-off.

Police say case to go as per law

NOWSHERA: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Mardan Range, Saeed Wazir Khan said the murder case against Mian Iftikhar Hussain would be dealt according to the law. Speaking at press conference here on Monday, he said that first information report against Mian Iftikhar was lodged on the complaint of the father of the deceased youth. He said the FIR would be quashed after completion of investigation into the case.The DIG ruled out the filing of the murder case or arresting Mian Iftikhar under political pressure. He said all the legal formalities would be completed and an impartial investigation into the case carried out. He said many people would have been killed had the police not intervened in time.

Axact active to get stay order against Customs proceedings

KARACHI: The Axact administration is active in getting a stay order to stop the proceedings of Customs Intelligence. According to sources, the Customs Intelligence on Monday issued a second notice under Section 26 of the Customs Act asking Axact to prove the legal import of equipment for its TV channel. The Axact administration sought time till Tuesday (today) to accept this notice so that it could take a stay order from court against the Customs proceedings. Customs officials say the stay order does not matter now as they have completed their work. They said Axact evaded about Rs400-500 million duty and there is no problem in lodging this case.

Shujaat flays arrest of Mian Iftikhar

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has termed the arrest and handcuffing of ANP leader and prominent political leader of KPK Mian Iftikhar Hussain highly regrettable and improper. Talking to Ghulam Ahmad Billaur on telephone in this regard, Ch Shujat Hussain said that Mian Iftikhar Hussain was a gentleman political figure. First he was involved in a murder case by deviating from the provincial traditions and then he was handcuffed also. He said how it was possible that Mian Iftikhar Hussain ordered the killing of a political worker.

India diverting Pak water, says JuD chief

FAISALABAD: India has arbitrarily diverted rivers originating from Kashmir and constructed small dams to deprive Pakistan of its water share, said Jamaatud Dawa Ameer Hafiz Muhammad Saeed. Addressing a function organised by the Agro Wheat Forum Pakistan at a local hotel on Monday, he said the only way to get rid of the anti-Islam states hegemony lays in the successful launch of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

GUJRANWALA: An FIA team on Monday raided and arrested a human smuggler Abid Hassan.The FIA team, headed by Inspector Hassan Farooq, raided a hideout in Radiala and arrested a most-wanted human trafficker Abid Hassan, son of Sardar Khan, who was wanted in several cases of human trafficking.

Three boys drown into river in bid to rescue girl

FAISALABAD: Three boys drowned into the Chenab River near Chiniot in a bid to rescue a girl on Sunday evening. Four mill workers, including Naveed and Farha, had come to the river from Faisalabad. Farha jumped into the river but started drowning. Hearing her cries, Naveed and three boys Amir, Vicky and Qalib, residents of Bhaiwala village, jumped into the river to rescue the girl. On information, Rescue 1122 staffers also reached the spot and rescued Farha and Naveed while Amir, Vicky and Qalib drowned. Their bodies were recovered after hectic struggle.

Power thief tortures SDO in Nankana

NANKANA SAHIB: A power thief tortured the Wapda Mangtanwala SDO at Chukianwala on Monday. On a tip-off, SDO Jehangir Bhatti raided the house of Sharafat and found him stealing electricity. When the SDO was disconnecting power supply, Sharafat allegedly tortured him. Meanwhile, the Wapda employees took out a rally to register their protest against the incident. They also suspended the power supply to Morr Khunda for about four hours. They were demanding arrest of the accused. The Mangtanwala police have registered a case against the accused.

More LG polls violence cases lodged

PESHAWAR: Cases were lodged against a number of people in Mathra, Gulbahar and other police stations for attacking polling stations, cops and other officials during the local government elections. The police said a case was registered in Mathra against unidentified people for allegedly attacking the cops and snatching ballot boxes. Also, a case was lodged in Gulbahar against four people for attacking a police constable. The police said a couple of other cases were also registered in the election-related violence in Peshawar.

Four injured as cylinder explodes

LAHORE: Four persons received injuries when a cylinder exploded in a shop in the Shera Kot area on Monday. Rescue teams reached the spot and rushed the injured persons to a nearby hospital. The injured persons identified as Wasif, Bashir, Majid and Rizwan were sitting in a welding shop at the time of the incident.

Bomb defused in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: A three-kilogram bomb was defused on Monday. An official of the bomb disposal unit said they were tipped off about a bomb in Yakatoot. The bomb disposal experts rushed to the spot and defused the explosives. The official said the bomb was probably planted to target security forces.

Girl commits suicide in TT Singh

TOBA TEK SINGH: A 15-year-old girl committed suicide at Chak 328/JB on Sunday night. Muhammad Sarwar, father of Iram Parveen, told police that she exchanged harsh words with him and took poison. She was rushed to the DHQ hospital where she died.

Doctor dies in Peshawar accident
