PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission obtained more five-day physical remand of Kohat chief municipal coordinator Noor Daraz Khattak, father of PTI MPA Gul Sahib Khan, and four others charged with grabbing 150 kanals of land.
The special court judge of Ehtesab Commission, Hayat Ali Shah, granted further remand of the accused to Ehtesab Commission for further inquiry in the case.The court had already granted 20-day remand of the accused in the case previously. The Commission officials had arrested the chief municipal coordinator, tehsildar Mohammad Ghulam, patwari Kamran and girdawar Daud along with Taj Muhammad in the case.
The five accused were produced before the court on Wednesday. Additional Deputy Prosecutor General Barrister Qazi Babar Arshad sought further remand of the accused in the land scam in Kohat worth Rs250 million.
The prosecutor told the court that the accused were arrested under the KP Ehtesab Act 2014 and he requested for further custody of the accused to the commission so that the enquiry could be completed.
According to an official communiqué issued by the Commission, the grabbed land was situated in Moza Jarama, Kohat. It said Noor Daraz was involved in the scam as principal beneficiary.
The Ehtesab Commission was set up through an act passed by the provincial assembly and is headed by Lieutenant General (r) Hamid Khan. He has also served as Peshawar corps commander.
On the other hand, Noor Daraz Khattak had challenged the Commission in the Peshawar High Court through his son MPA Gul Sahib Khan.He questioned the establishment of the Commission in presence of the National Accountability Bureau.
