PESHAWAR: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday dismissed bail petition of a woman for allegedly kidnapping a young man and receiving Rs0.3 million ransom for his release in Tehkal area of Peshawar.
The Anti-Terrorism Court Judge, Muhammad Zafar Khan, refused bail to the woman after hearing arguments. As per the first information report Aooze Billah, an Afghan national, presently living in Phase-6 of Hayatabad, in his report to Tehkal police said that he was kidnapped through a girl.
In the FIR, the Afghan national claimed that a young girl, Rida, had invited him to her residence in Tehkal by calling him and when he entered her house, a group of armed men overpowered him. He stated that the people demanded Rs2 million ransom for his release.
The victim said that after repeated requests, the kidnappers agreed to reduce the ransom amount to Rs0.3 million. He said that he asked one of his friends on phone to pay the amount to the people near Speen Jumaat. The kidnappers, he said, brought him to Palosai area and released him after shooting and injuring him.
Following the information collected through mobile phone data, the police said they raided a house in Gharibabad and arrested the young girl with the ransom money and a pistol. Case against the female and her accomplices was registered and efforts were underway to arrest the rest of gangsters.
The alleged female kidnaper remained five days in police custody and then the court sent her to Central Prison Peshawar on judicial remand. She then filed a bail petition for her release on bail.
