Azerbaijan, Pakistan support Kashmir, Nagorno-Karabakh issues

ISLAMABAD: Azerbaijan has reiterated its support to Pakistan on the question of Kashmir dispute while Pakistan extended full support to Azerbaijan on the issue of Nigorno-Karabakh.
The reiteration has come in the meeting between visiting Finance and Economic Affairs Minister of Pakistan Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Baku where they earlier had gone to attend 48th annual meeting of the board of governors of Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The minister conveyed the message of goodwill from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to the President. Senator Dar assured the president of Pakistan’s sincere and fullest support to Azerbaijan on the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh. The two exchanged views pertaining to the mutual interest in a candid manner.
Pakistan’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Khalid Usman Qaiser and Azerbaijan envoy to Pakistan Dr Dashgin Shikaraov were also present on the occasion and assisted their respective leaders in the course of discussions.
It was officially stated after the meeting that the two leaders agreed for support of their nations to each other for the just cause of Kashmir and Nagorno-Karabakh issues. Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar said agreements inked by the two countries would help in opening new avenues of development in two countries. They discussed bilateral and international issues besides prevailing situation in the region. The sources pointed out that the meeting had significance in the backdrop of the developments in the region as President Ilham Aliyev responded the message of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with greater warmth.
Meanwhile, Ishaq Dar also met Vice President of World Bank and discussed matters related to the reforms in energy sector. There was also detailed exchange of views regarding the on-going discussions with the IMF in Dubai.
