Two jailed for giving clean chit to election candidates

KOHAT: Two officials of the Police Department were sent to jail for giving clean chit to two candidates, who had served imprisonment, to contest the upcoming local government elections.
Shah Zaman, a senior clerk, and Zargul Khan, another employee in the Police Department, had issued character certificates to two candidates identified as Amjad Gul and Farhad Gul, who had been released from jail after serving imprisonment in murder, robbery and kidnapping cases.
Following the directives by District Police Officer Muhammad Sahib Ashraf, both the employees were arrested under sections 109, 167, 166, 219, 471, 469, 468, 466 and 420 Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Both the accused were produced in the court of the senior civil judge, who sent them to the Kohat District Prison.
