PESHAWAR: The property dealers association of sub-urban villages of the provincial metropolis has demanded Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to withdraw the increase in prices and taxes of property in the province, otherwise they would start a protest drive.
Addressing a news conference here on Friday, property dealers of Pishtakhara and Sufaid Dheri Ibrahim, Shafaqat Khan, Amin and Mazhar Wakeel Durrani said that the government increases the official prices of lands from 15 to 20 percent in the budget. This would put the least burden on the people in terms of taxes at the time of transfer of land.
But the current government increased the official prices of land from 300 to 400 percent, which deprived the poor people of transferring their lands on their names, as it cost them Rs65,000 to Rs70,000. They demanded of the chief minister and provincial board of revenue to withdraw the increase in taxes on lands and restore the old rates on transfer of land.
