PESHAWAR: Members of the Gwadar-Kashgar Action Forum have warned of launching a protest campaign against the proposed diversion of Pak-China Economic Corridor.
Addressing a conference, ANP General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Qaumi Watan Party’s Hashim Babar, former governor Masood Kausar and others said that they appreciated international investment in the country but would oppose the federal government’s plan to divert its route in favour of Punjab.
Mian Iftikhar asked the federal government to implement original plan of the economic corridor that traversed Burhan, Fatehjang, Mianwali, Dera Ismail Khan, Zhob and Quetta. “The project has been snatched from our people,” Main Iftikhar said, adding that KP’s infrastructure was badly affected by terrorism.
“The Chinese president is expected to sign the project with the government of Pakistan during his visit,” Mian Iftikhar said, vowing to continue their struggle against the change in trade corridor’s route. The speakers criticised the PTI-led provincial government for not taking the issue seriously with the federal government.
