Tevta to enrol 200,000 students

LAHORE: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) will encourage private institutes who are providing free technical training facilities to the needy students.
According to a press release, Tevta Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said this while speaking at the annual general meeting and prize distribution ceremony of Defence Welfare Society (DWS) at Defence Club Community Centre on Sunday.
He said Tevta would enhance enrolment from 100,000 students to 200,000 during the year by initiating different training programmes, adding it would be done without putting any financial burden on the government.
The representatives of Defence Welfare Society, DHA, Haji Inam Elahi Asar, Hakim Muhammad Usman, SM Ashfaq, Begum Tasneem Firdous, Mehboob Iqbal, Abdur Raoof Shahzada, Ibrar Ahmed and other executive committee members and Tevta officers were present.
Irfan Qaiser welcomed the management of the DWS to collaborate with Tevta in providing certified training. An MoU was signed by both organisations to establish a relationship for collaboration based on the principle of cooperation for supporting the development of skilled human resource in general for poverty alleviation at this centre.
The Tevta chairperson said the courses offered at Technical & Vocational Training Centre working under Defence Welfare Society (DWS) would be examined and certified by Tevta. effort will increase the chances of employment of pass-outs of this centre in public and private sectors.
