Capital to have new airport by October next year

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was informed on Friday that the new Islamabad International Airport would be completed by October next year.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad told the House during question hour that about 80% work has already been completed and the remaining work is being completed at a fast pace.
He said two run ways have been constructed and distance between them is as per International Aviation Organisation standards.Responding to another question, the minister of state told the house that after the implementation of monetisation policy, a mechanism had been placed to avoid any misuse of pool vehicles in ministries, divisions and departments.
To another question, Shaikh Aftab informed the house that steps have been taken by Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) for promotion of tourism in the country. He said PTDC motels have been provided comfortable, reliable, safe and quality accommodation to tourists.He mentioned that security to the tourists was also being provided wherever needed claiming that there have been improvements in the tourism sector.
