SUKKUR: Residence of the Sattani Chandio village of Khairpur Nathan Shah staged a protest on Thursday against closure of the girls’ middle school for the last 16 years.
The villagers, led by Fida Chandio and others said the building of the girls school is closed for 16 years and the students were deprived of education facility. They said they had been continuously protesting and also submitted complaints with the offices of the education department, but no one bothered to pay attention to the issue.
They said the secretary and minister for education claim they opened hundreds of closed schools, but had not taken an action against ghost teachers and the closed school of their village.
Meanwhile, an influential person got vacated a government primary school in Railai Maitlo on gun point, said head master of the school Allah Dino Maitlo. ‘He said 125 children were getting education at the school. He said no heed was paid by Sindh secretary of education, DC Khairpur and the education department, while the police did not register a complaint. He said the accused was also identified to Tando Masti Police but they did not arrest them and the school is in the possession of the influential person.
