JAMRUD: The elders of Kukikhel tribe warned of a sit-in outside the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan against the provincial government’s lack of interest in resolving issue of Regi Lalma township.
A jirga of Kukikhel elders was held at the residence of late Haji Zewar Shah in Jamrud on Sunday. The elders said the provincial government had illegally occupied the Kukikhel Afridi tribe’s land in Regi Lalma. “The PTI-led provincial government has launched developmental projects and constructing commercial plazas on our land,” stated one of the elders. The elders said that Kukikhel tribe had been protesting against the illegal occupation of their land but the government was not taking interest in resolving the issue.
The tribesmen urged the provincial government to resolve the issue of Regi Lalma as soon as possible, otherwise Kukikhel tribe would organise a sit-in at Banigala, which houses residence of Imran Khan, on March 9.
