TANK: The administration acceded to the demand of elders to transfer the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) official from the district, sources said on Friday. The sources said that Dera Ismail Khan Commissioner Zakir Hussain Afridi and Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdul Ghafoor Afridi held talks with elders. The senior officials agreed to the demand to transfer the Pesco XEN or Executive Engineer.
The elders including Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader Yousaf Burki, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) Malik Zaman Bhittani, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) district president Malik Ayub Bhittani, Sardar Ahmed Gul Mehsud, Maulana Khan Marwat, Sajjad Ahmed Marwat and others were present at the meeting. They accused the XEN of being involved in corruption and irregularities. The commissioner expressed anger over the absence of XEN from the meeting and said that the official would be transferred from Tank soon. He also asked the power consumers to pay their bills regularly and timely, saying that power supply to the defaulters would be stopped. The Pesco office in Tank was burned when a protest against the prolonged power outages in the district turned violent on Monday.
