2,500 minors vaccinated in Orakzai

100 suspects held in Hangu

HANGU: The police and the security forces arrested 100 suspected persons and seized arms and narcotics from them during search operations in various areas in the district on Thursday, official sources said. The sources said that the police and the security forces conducted search operations in Lakhti Banda, Kata Kanrri, Afghan Refugees’ Camp, Warista and Bagto areas. Up to 100 persons, including 70 Afghan nationals, were arrested. Five Kalashnikovs, four pistols, seven hand-grenades, two guns, eight detonators and three kilograms of hashish were recovered from them.

50 suspects held in DI Khan search

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police arrested 50 suspects, including an Afghan national, during a search operation in various parts of the district, police said on Thursday. They said the police launched a search operation against anti-social elements. They arrested suspected persons and recovered three pistols and several cartridges from them. The police also arrested an Afghan national for illegally staying in the district. Meanwhile, the local administration visited 99 educational institutions in the district to check the security arrangements put in place by the schools administration.
Man beheads son in Kohat

KOHAT: A man beheaded his one-month-old son after an argument with his wife over a domestic dispute, police sources said on Thursday. The sources said that Zubair Ahmed had an argument with his wife, Basmina, over a domestic issue in Bazikhel area. Basmina told the police that her husband lost temper during the quarrel and beheaded his son. The locals overpowered the accused and handed him over to the police. The accused reportedly regretted killing his son in a statement to police.

Three bodies found in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The bodies of three men were found dumped in fields in Sherokehna village in limits of the Dera Town Police Station, police said on Thursday. They said the bodies were dumped in the fields and the locals informed the police.The police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to a hospital for autopsy. The ages of the dead were said to be between 30-35 years. The police lodged the case and started investigation.

25 prisoners released in Lahore

The judge visited different parts of the prison including kitchen, hospital, juvenile barrack and addict ward. The judge was accompanied by Jail Superintendent Shahram Khan.

Spare parts of Nato helicopter recovered

LANDIKOTAL: The security forces recovered a large number of spare parts of Nato helicopters from an empty compound in Ashkhel area, official sources said.They said that on a tip-off, the Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers were sent to Ashkhel, the border village sited near the border with Afghanistan, where they recovered different parts of the Nato helicopters. The recovered spare parts, buried in an abandoned home, were later shifted to the army camp in Landikotal.

120 illegal immigrants in Gujranwala Central Jail

GUJRANWALA: There are 120 illegal immigrants, mostly Afghans, in the Central Jail, said Deputy Superintendent Jail Mudassar Khan. Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, he said that five of the illegal immigrants – four Afghans and a Zimbabwean - had completed their term. He said that the Home Department had been informed about it and they were waiting for their orders in this regard. He said that the four Afghans, Abdullah, Abdul Fateh, Nizam Din and Sibghatullah, had completed their one month imprisonment and they were likely to be sent to the Peshawar jail for deportation to Afghanistan.

Two dacoits killed in Bahawalpur encounter

BAHAWALPUR: Two notorious dacoits were killed in an encounter with the Sma-Stta police near AP Canal on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Nadim Mayo alias Deema and Azhar alias Azhari Khapra. Misbah Javed, a teacher at a private school, was going on duty when five people, including Haq Nawaz, kidnapped her. Lubna, sister of Muhammad Sharif of Lyallpur Colony, was allegedly kidnapped by Saleem Nadeem and others. Jamila, sister of Muhammad Ramazan of Chak 50/JB, was kidnapped by unidentified people. The police have registered separate cases and started investigations.

‘Schools to get weapon licences’

MULTAN: The Punjab government has decided to issue weapon licences to private and public schools to combat terrorism. Addressing a meeting of heads of educational institutions here on Thursday, DCO Zahid Salim Gondal stated that the Nadra would verify the weapon licences before issuing computerised weapon licences. He said that activities of student unions had been banned in educational institutions. He said that the women university had been declared most sensitive and special security arrangements had been made around the university.

Police kill dacoit in encounter

MUZAFFARGARH: A dacoit carrying Rs 800,000 bounty was killed in an encounter with Alipur City police on Thursday. Three dacoits were fleeing after snatching a motorcycle from Abdul Rehman. On information, police rushed to the spot and started chasing the dacoits. On seeing police, the dacoits opened fire on them. Police also retaliated. As a result, one of the two dacoits was killed on the spot while the others fled. The killed dacoit was later identified as Yasir Iqbal. He was wanted by police in several murder, dacoity and other cases. Police have registered a case.
Youth kills father, injures stepmother

Abbas, whose wife had died, had contracted second marriage with Zahida, widow of his brother, against the will of his son Shahbaz. On the day of the incident, Shahbaz allegedly gunned down his father Abbas and injured his stepmother.

Newlywed youth shot dead

FAISALABAD: Dacoits shot dead a newlywed youth on resistance at Chowk Abdullahpur on Thursday. Haseeb Ahmad, a resident of Mohallah Sharifpura and a machinist, was going to his workplace when two people riding a motorcycle tried to snatch the bike and cash from him. They opened fire on him when he offered resistance. As a result, he died on the spot. The dacoits managed to escape.

12 injured in TT Singh accident

TOBA TEK SINGH: About 12 people were injured in a collision among two motorcycles and a rickshaw on Gojra-Moongi Bypass on Wednesday night. According to Gojra City police, the injured people were shifted to the THQ Hospital from where Farooq, Rauf, Maratab and Zafar were referred to the Faisalabad Allied Hospital due to their critical condition.

Two travel agents held for Rs 90m fraud

The accused - Naeem Sarwar and M Akram – had disappeared after committing fraud of Rs 90 million with 1,500 people, who wanted to perform Umra. On Thursday, the FIA, on a tip-off, raided an area and arrested the two accused. The FIA also recovered Rs 5 million from them.
