LAHORE: The 72nd Punjab Games 2019 have been completed quite successfully and it’s time to acknowledge the notable role of Punjab Olympic Association, all departments, organizations and sports associations in making these games memorable; these views were expressed by DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar in a statement on Monday.
DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar congratulated all the medal winners and urged the rest of the players to do more hard work for the future sports events. Holding of Punjab Games after eight years is definitely a major development but the thing is that these games should be organized regularly in the coming years. “There could be a revolution in Pakistan sports if we managed to organise Punjab Games continuously in the next four/five years,” he claimed. DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said Punjab has got plenty of talented male and female athletes in several sports disciplines.
Sarwar said the sports lovers will also remember Punjab Games for several other positive features too. “Besides thousands of male and female players of all nine divisions, the special children and players from transgender community also took active part in the 4-day games”.
It’s pertinent to mention here that the players of transgender community took part in three events - chaati race, sack race and tug-of-war during the grand event. “We will organize more sports events for special children and transgender community in future”.
“We also invited contingents from Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and medal winners of Special Olympics Summer Games in the mega event”. “International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) was also celebrated during the opening ceremony of 72nd edition of Punjab Games. The athletes of all nine divisions waved White Cards to show solidarity with peace”.
