Wasa issues notices to water defaulters
Rawalpindi: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has issued final notice to 125 big water defaulters in the city to pay all dues within three days, otherwise water connections of several hotels, restaurants, hostels, service stations and government owned buildings including Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) they are in the list of ‘defaulters’ will be disconnected from Monday.
The concerned department will also register FIRs against water theft in city. The Water and Sanitation Agency ( Wasa) Deputy Director (Revenue) Ameer Abbass told ‘The News’ that there were total 549 water defaulters in city they did not pay bills for years. During crackdown, 424 water defaulters have cleared all dues from Rs150,000 to Rs300,000. But, hotels, restaurants and hostels businesses are not paying water bills, he said.
He said that some of government owned buildings including MCR is also in the list of water defaulters. We have issued them final notice to start crackdown against them within three days, he said. He said that mostly commercial users are not paying dues. Several consumers are using water illegally, we are taking action against them, he said.
