Papers of heavyweights rejected in Punjab

HAFIZABAD: Pindi Bhattian Additional Sessions Judge Qamaruz Zaman, the returning officer for NA-103, on Wednesday rejected the nomination papers of Ch Mehdi Hassan Bhatti and other heavyweights.


He also rejected the papers of Shoaibullah, a candidate for PP-105, who failed to produce his original CNIC. He also rejected the nominations papers of Rai Riasat Ali Kharal, his brother Jahangir Ali Kharal (both independent candidates), Rai Qamaruz Zaman Kharal (PTI) and Jahan Khan Tarar (MQM), all the candidates for PP-106. The papers of Rai Riasat, Rai Jahangir and Jahan Khan Tarar have rejected for being defaulters, while Rai Qamaruz Zaman had produced a bogus certificate in the local bodies elections.


13-year-old girl gang-raped

HAFIZABAD: A 13-year-old girl was gang-raped after being kidnapped at Dhunni village on Tuesday night.


Abdul Jabbar alleged that Shafique, Ghulam Abbas, Muhammad Ishaq and Issa kidnapped his daughter took her to a deserted place and raped her. He said that police were not arresting the accused who belonged to influential families. When contacted, Kasssoke SHO Ijaz Butt assured that action would be taken against the accused after an inquiry.


In the second incident, Sameena Bibi was alone when Muhammad Naveed entered her house at Bijli Mohallah and raped her at gunpoint. The police have registered a case and started investigations.
