Beggar woman killed

NANKANA SAHIB: A disabled woman beggar was killed by some unidentified persons at Canada Colony on Monday.Some accused gave intoxicated juice to Goshi, the wife of Ghulam Qadir, which made her unconscious. She was shifted to DHQ Hospital in a critical condition where she expired.

 

VALUABLES SNATCHED: Two dacoity incidents were reported here on Monday. Zafar Iqbal was on his way by a motorcycle when four unidentified bandits intercepted him near Kot Sant Ram and snatched his motorcycle and a mobile. In the second incident, some unidentified thieves stole a car of Nadeem Yaqoob which he had parked outside his house at Shad Bagh Colony.

 

GANG-RAPED: A married woman was gang-raped at Chak 81 on Monday.Accused Imdad and Muhammad Rafiq allegedly gang-raped Muhammad Irfan’s wife.

 

Water shortage may hit rice quality

NANKANA SAHIB: Low rice quality is feared this time in the district for lack of water, The News learnt here. The district is famous like Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal and Sheikhupura for fine rice quality produce, but this time it is feared that paddy crop may not be up to the mark for water shortage. Less monsoon rains, power shutdowns, water thefts and unavailability of irrigation water at tail end areas may hit the quality of paddy.
