LARKANA: A rally was taken out and a sit-in observed against the land mafia in front of the Larkana Press Club here on Monday. On the occasion, the protesters told the newsmen that the mafia had been obtaining forged papers to encroach on people’s lands. They appealed to the chief justice of the Supreme Court to take suo moto notice of the activities of the land mafia.
A protest was also held by the Help Welfare Organization and token hunger strikes were observed against non-implementation of the two percent quota for disabled persons. The demonstration was held in front of the Press Club on Monday.
The demonstrators said they were shocked to see the special persons being deprived of their rights under a democratic dispensation. They also accused the legislators, including some ministers, of favouritism in giving jobs. They threatened the government of starting an agitation against it if their demands were not met.
Yet another protest was held by the people against the unscheduled loadshedding in many areas of the city as well as in Shahdadkot-Qambar.They said that the people were not having electricity even during Sehr and Iftar.
