Ramazan bazaars fail to deliver in Bhakkar
From Our Correspondent
BHAKKAR: Ramazan bazaars are proving to be a source of photo-sessions for the officials instead of providing daily-use items at subsidized rates to the people.
Citizens told The News that the Punjab government had established Ramazan bazaars to provide a relief to the masses, but they had become only a source of photo-sessions for the officials. They said that the shopkeepers displayed the rate lists for the period when the officials remained in the bazaars, but removed them soon after their departure. They alleged that the shopkeepers were selling daily-use items at exorbitant rates without any check in the Ramazan bazaars. They were of the view that the Ramazan bazaars had become a futile exercise, while the poor were forced to purchase daily-use items at inflated rates.
