LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will observe Black Day on Thursday (today) to condemn the dismissal of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s government by Gen Zia-ul-Haq. Gen Zia-ul-Haq imposed the third martial law of the country’s history in 1977 and dismissed the elected government of PPP founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who assumed the office of Prime Minister in 1973.
Following the dismissal of the ZAB, he was imprisoned and tried for plotting the murder of Nawab Ahmed Khan Kasuri and was finally hanged on April 4, 1979. The PPP will hold gatherings, seminars and other events to condemn this act and like other cadres of party, the PPP Punjab is also holding an event in Lahore in which senior party members will participate.
