DIR: The National Research and Development Foundation (NRDF) claimed on Sunday that refusal cases in Upper Dir district had been brought to zero with the help of Ulema and local community.

This was stated at a news conference addressed by NRDF coordinator Sahibzada Izharullah, District Headquarters Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Ghaniur Rehman, Dr Samiur Rehman and Maulana Sardar Ahmed here.

Dr Ghaniur Rehman said the Ulema had got an important role to play in elimination of polio from the district. He urged parents to ensure administration of polio vaccine to their children below five years of age. He asked them to use congregations, particularly on Friday and also seminaries, to convince parents to vaccinate their children in every anti-polio campaign.

Maulana Sardar Ahmad said it was collective responsibility of the society to eradicate the disease, adding that the teachings of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) also stressed on taking measures for preventing or curing diseases.
