ISLAMABAD: United States Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter on Tuesday said United States regrets the Salala check post incident and is desirous of expanding ties with Pakistan in diverse fields.
Talking to a private news channel, he said US is serious about expanding business and social sector ties with Pakistan.He said that several issues regarding Nato supply resumption with Pakistan have been settled.
Both sides agree that the Nato supply issue was not handled properly, he said adding there is need for a political decision to end the deadlock. Munter said restoration of Nato supply to Afghanistan was in the interest of Pakistan.
To a question, Munter said investigation against Raymond Davis, who killed two Pakistanis in Lahore in 2010, was continuing. Replying to another question, he said he does not know where current Al Qaeda number one Aiman Al Zawahiri was.
He went on to say that arrest of Zawahiri was in favour of Pakistan and the US.Pakistan and US should work together against Al Qaeda, he said, adding the US government wants Pakistan to help it in search of Zawahiri.
Munter said US is ready to talk with Taliban if they lay down their arms. To another question regarding ties between Pakistan and neighbouring India, Munter said Pakistan was very sensitive on the issue of India.
