MIRANSHAH: Tribal elders in 18 villages in Razmak, North Waziristan Agency, decided not to administer anti-polio drops to children in protest against the suspension of power supply to the area, tribal sources said.

Talking to reporters, the elders of the two tribes including Malik Darosalam, Malik Gulwas and Malik Akbar Khan said the government was denying them basic amenities of life. They said the electricity was not provided to the area for days and there was no action on the part of the responsible people.

They accused the Wapda officials of embezzling Rs34 million fund allocated by the government for power projects in the area. They asked the political administration to investigate the misappropriation in the fund meant for power structure improvement in the area. They threatened to block the Razmak Road and suspend power supply to other parts of North Waziristan if prompt action was not taken to restore electricity supply to the area.
