Lawyers observe strike against Okara DCO

OKARA: The district bar association (DBA) observed a complete strike against alleged misbehaviour of DCO Saif Anjum with a lawyers’ delegation over the affairs of District Public School and College.

The lawyers called on the DCO to hold talks on the issue. They requested the DCO/DPS&C BoG chairman to reduce the fees, which had now become a burden on parents. They also objected to the performance of the teachers and extension being given to the principal for the last 10 years. They also demanded inclusion of public representatives in the DPS&C BoGs. The DCO turned down their proposals. On the insistence of the lawyers, the DCO allegedly asked the lawyers not to interfere in the affairs of the DPS&C.

GIRL SHOT DEAD FOR HONOUR: A girl was shot dead by her uncle for honour.

Ayesha Perveen, daughter of Ahmad Ali of 412/GB village, was living with her maternal uncle at Saleem Ka Thatha. Her uncle Ashraf was suspicious that she had illicit relations with a man. On the day of the incident, he shot her dead when she was sleeping. The Gogera police have registered a case and started investigations.

PPP condemns PM conviction

OKARA: The People’s Youth Organisation (PYO), the People’s Students Federation (PSF) and the People’s Lawyers Forum staged a demonstration against the conviction of the prime minister in a contempt of court case by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The protesters led by Punjab PSF secretary general Ijaz Gill, PYO leaders Malik Saleem Nonari, Asif Baloch, Wajid Butt, PLF leaders Rana Shakil Sulehria and Izharul Haq Toor staged a demonstration. They chanted slogans against the verdict. Later, they dispersed.

Woman raped for a week

OKARA: A married woman was abducted and later raped for a week at Bolewal village.

A woman informed the wife of Muhammad Hussain that her daughter Zainab was injured in an accident at Bonga Hayat. After hearing this, the woman took Rs 50,000 with her and left for Bonga Hayat. On the way, accused Allah Ditta, Baggi and Muhammad Ali allegedly abducted her and took her to Shah Yekka village where accused Allah Ditta allegedly raped her for a week. On Friday, the women got a chance and reached her home. Sadar Depalpur police have registered a case.

NEWBORN BODY FOUND: A dead body of a newborn was found from outside a butcher’s shop at Bhuman Shah village on Friday.

Some villagers found the dead body of the newborn from outside the shop of Shafqat Ali. Sadar Depalpur police have registered a case.

CROPS DESTROYED: Crops of a man were destroyed by his rivals at Rajgarh village on Friday.

Accused Israr Ahmad and Nisar Ahmad had a dispute with Muhammad Hashim over litigation. On the day of the incident, the accused along with their 23 accomplices came at the fields of Muhammad Hashim and allegedly destroyed his 13 acres crops of turmeric, cotton, vegetables and fodder with the help of tractors. They also took away valuables worth Rs 300,000 of Hashim with them. Hujra Shah Muqeem police have registered a case.
