KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday vowed to go through all difficulties to secure the rights of people from oppressors.
Addressing a major public gathering here at Murad Memon Goth in Malir in connection with the 48th foundation day anniversary of the PPP, Bilawal said he would remain with the masses like his martyred maternal grandfather (Zulfikar Ali Bhutto) and mother (Benazir Bhutto).
Bilawal made public his resolve to fully resist squandering of assets of Steel Mills, Pakistan International Airlines and other such national public enterprises under the government’s drive of privatisation.
He said that at present propaganda was being made that the PPP had deviated from its ideology. “I want to tell the political orphans that the war that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had started is still continuing as neither anybody has been able to get the PPP deviated from its ideology nor anyone would be successful in such an effort in future,” said the PPP chairman to a large gathering of followers of the party.
“Martial-law regimes had been imposed to get us deviated from our path but history witnessed that we had defeated every dictator,” he said.
Bilawal said that people of Pakistan had been divided on basis of language, religion and sects while armed militias had been formed and arms had been given to students. He said the PPP had always made efforts to stop use of arms and abusive language in politics.
“We want to reiterate our resolve here that our struggle is against oppression and terrorism whether the terrorism was committed in the name of religion or in the name of language, we would equally condemn it,” he said.
Bilawal said that he would himself venture out among masses for sake of strengthening of the party and in this regard he would visit every province. He paid tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for guaranteeing fundamental rights of people through authoring the consensus document of Constitution of the country.
“Those nations who get deviated could never be able to take decisions regarding their lives while they are compelled to lead a life full of compromises and disgrace. While nature on its part chooses such a personality for leadership role for such nations, which could make them united while showing them a new path. Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was one such personality,” Bilawal remarked.
Bilawal said the martyred Bhutto had founded the People’s Party at such a time when compromise had been made on interests of Pakistan while a war victory had been transformed into defeat for the nation. “At that time impoverished masses had been denied their rights while decisions regarding their future had been taken by capitalists and landlords. The poor had been getting poorer while rich had been getting richer at that time,” he said.
He said the Shaheed Bhutto had urged poor people, labourers, and farmers to get united to become source of gaining power in the country. He said that labourers, destitute people, oppressed and suppressed sections of society still considered PPP as their representative party. He said the PPP could not be removed from hearts of people as the party in the past had done struggle for rights of labourers and it would continue to do so in future also. “We consider food, clothing and shelter as fundamental rights of people. Our struggle still today is for providing education to all while making youth of the country skilful. We believe in economic stabilisation of people women,” he said.
“Certain people have been in habit of hatching conspiracies against the PPP day in and day out while such elements had used to do our character assassination and to misguide the masses,” he said, adding: “I want to ask such elements that for how long they would continue with their oppression, how many Bhuttos you would assassinate as Bhutto is an ideology and philosophy while Bhutto today has also become a reality.”
While referring to Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal said this ideology has given so much strength to a woman that she had cautioned dictators and terrorists while she had been martyred in her battle. He said the history had also been witness to victory of oppressed people and defeat of oppressors. He said the oppressors had been continuing with their oppression for last 48 years but people had always unanimously responded with slogan of ‘Jeay Bhutto’.
Bilawal said he would complete at every cost the mission launched by Shaheed Zulfikar Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. “The reality of our dream is building of a peaceful and prospering Pakistan,” he said.
On the occasion, Bilawal in an enthusiastic mood got audience to raise slogans in favour of the PPP, its late leaders, and in favour of oppressed and downtrodden people for securing their rights from oppressors and influential quarters.
Earlier speaking at the public gathering, PPP central leader Senator Sherry Rehman said that Bilawal was the true leader of youth of the country while he would prove himself also the true saviour for downtrodden classes in the society.
