ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Tuesday said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will decide whether or not to support Sardar Ayaz Sadiq during the Speaker’s election.
“We haven’t taken a decision yet as the party would decide whether to support him (Ayaz Sadiq) during the election or not,” he said while talking to newsmen here.Khursheed said the political temperature was rising with the arrival of the winter season and it will further rise with the start of campaign for the local government elections.
To a question, he said only politicians were being defamed in the name of corruption. He said there was always some special agenda behind targeting only politicians though all corrupt people could be arrested though sincere action.
“But the problem is that the foundations of justice and equality are weak and the decisions are not taken on the basis of law and the Constitution but on the basis of holy and non-holy cows.”
To a question, the opposition leader said Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani had made a right decision by not accepting the resignations of the MQM MQM parliamentarians and through his decision he had closed down the Pandora’s Box for good.
He said no political force could be eliminated through use of force nor could it be pushed to the wall.To another question, he said the government had failed to deliver in all fields and will complete its tenure without ending load shedding.
“The PPP did a lot for the people during its previous tenure but the ruling PML-N failed to serve the people,” he claimed. To yet another question, Khursheed said increase in population was a bad omen for the country and the government should convene a meeting of the Council of Common Interest (CCI) to formulate a strategy to tackle this issue.
