ECP likely to suspend membership of non-filer MPs

ISLAMABAD: Membership of those parliamentarians who did not submit the details of their assets to the Election Commission of Pakistan. (ECP) is likely to be suspended.
The ECP has started considering the option of suspending the membership of those parliamentarians who have not submitted the details of their assets so far. Till now, 711 parliamentarians out of 1,107 have submitted the details of their assets to the Election Commission.
Despite the expiry of deadline on September 30, 226 members of the National Assembly, 73 of Senate, 197 members of Punjab Assembly, 121 of Sindh Assembly, 54 of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and 38 members of Balochistan Assembly had submitted the details of their assets. A notification for the suspension of membership of the parliamentarians was likely to be issued during the current week.
