PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Sherpao on Sunday said that the Kalabagh Dam issue was a matter of life and death for Pakhtuns and its construction would not be acceptable at any cost.
In a statement on Sunday, he criticised the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government for raising this issue just to score political points. He said the assemblies of three provinces had already passed resolutions against the controversial project and, therefore, sticking to such an issue would be harmful for the Federation.
Sherpao contended that since the smaller federating units had shown reservations over the Kalabagh Dam, stubbornness of the PML-N government on the project would generate hatred among the people.
The QWP chief said the federal government had failed to deliver and the people were fed up with its poor performance. He added that the government had been raising such issues to divert the public attention from real issues.
