PUIC declaration hails Pak role in terror war
Seeks peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute; supports Pak stance on Kashmiris’ right to self-determination

ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Countries Member States (PUIC) on Tuesday approved the Islamabad declaration reiterating the PUIC’s continued support for Pakistan in its efforts against terrorism and acknowledging the sacrifices of 65,000 Pakistanis who lost their lives in this struggle for global peace and stability.
The Islamabad declaration of the PUIC called for a peaceful solution to the Jammu and Kashmir issue in line with the UN Security Council resolutions and aspirations of the people of Kashmir, supporting Pakistan’s principled stance on Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and expressing concern over the human rights violations by the Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir.
Acting Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi chaired the session of the 34th meeting of the PUIC executive committee.
The members of parliament from Pakistan, Algeria, Lebanon, Kingdom of Morocco, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Chad, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Turkey, Iraq, UAE and Iran attended the meeting. Secretary General PUIC Prof Dr Mahmud Erol Kilic and officials from the PUIC Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
The executive committee of the PIUC through Islamabad Declaration recalled the injunctions of Almighty Allah that emphasise on the consultations (Mushwirah) and Muslim Brotherhood on the basis of which PUIC had been founded. It praised the PUIC’s efforts in preserving the Islamic values and supporting the member parliaments in every possible way to serve their common political, economic, and social interests through a joint platform.
The PUIC resolved and reaffirmed support to the steadfastness and determination of the Palestinian people to confront the Israeli aggression with all possible means to recover their occupied territories. It also reiterated PUIC’s continued support for Pakistan in its efforts against terrorism and acknowledged the sacrifices of 65,000 Pakistanis who lost their lives in this struggle for global peace and stability.
The deceleration called for a peaceful solution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue in line with the UN Security Council resolutions and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
It reminded the international community to address the root causes of terrorism which spread deprivation, frustration, and ignite violence. It also denounced unprovoked firing by the Indian side across the Line of Control and Working Boundary which is a sheer violation of the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India.
The declaration condemned continued Israeli aggression and tyrannical attitude against Palestinian population and also denounced occupation of the Syrian Golan and the Lebanese lands.
The meeting emphasised the important role of OIC in protecting interests of Muslim Ummah on issues such as Islamophobia, defamation of religion and treatment of Muslims particularly in non-Muslim countries.
The meeting members expressed gratitude to the National Assembly of Pakistan for providing a congenial and appropriate environment for discussion on challenges faced by Muslim Ummah in current times.
Meanwhile, addressing the participants of the PUIC at concluding session, Murtaza Javed Abbasi said that highly important agenda was discussed in past two days where some of the crucial challenges facing the Islamic world were also highlighted.
He appreciated the efforts of the executive committee for giving a concrete shape to the draft of the PUIC charter on terrorism.
He also thanked all the PUIC member states for their unwavering support to the Kashmir cause and expected their continued advocacy for the right to self-determination of the people of Kashmir in accordance with the UN resolutions in the future as well.
