ISLAMABAD: A division bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday adjourned hearing till tomorrow (Wednesday) of an intra-court appeal of the federal government seeking to declare restoration of chairman Pemra null and void.
A single-member bench of the IHC restored Ch Rashid Ahmed as chairman Pemra on May 25 after he had challenged his termination.
Later a division bench, comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Athar Minallah, while hearing the federal government appeal intra-court appeal suspended the restoration order on June 10, 2015.
On Monday, an additional attorney general (AAG) Afnan Karim Kundi told the court that the federal government was trying to appoint a permanent chairman Pemra in the light of Supreme Court’s directions.
The Supreme Court has directed the government to appoint a chairman Pemra and submit a report, the AAG further told the court.
Chairman Pemra’s counsel Barrister Wasim Sajjad could not appear before the court due to his engagements. The court fixed the matter for September 2 for final arguments.
