LAHORE: As part of training, development and capacity building of field staff of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), three day “In-House Training & Capacity Building Programme” starts at its Regional Office in Lahore from today (August 10), says a press release on Monday.
Pemra has been established to regulate private electronic media in the country. Since, its inception on 1st March, 2002, Pemra has been facilitating its stakeholders including satellite TV channels, FM radio stations, and distribution services i.e. cable operators etc. in turning them into a vibrant, free & fair but responsible media industry by bringing them in line with the constitutional obligations, Pemra laws, rules & regulations made there under.
For a regulator, enforcement is always a challenging task, especially when particular industry is passing through an evolution; it not only involves implementation of prescribed laws in letter & sprit but also requires requisite training & development of the work force dedicated to the said purpose.
Pemra gets its field enforcement done through senior field inspectors & field inspectors working under assistant general managers/ deputy general managers and the general managers besides top management comprising of director generals, the executive member, the chairman & the authority (Pemra).
In pursuance of the visionary and dynamic approach of the current Acting Chairman, PemraKamal Uddin Tipu (PSP) a three day “Specialized Training & Capacity Building Programme” is underway from 10th August to 12th August, 2015.
The prime objective of the programme is to enhance knowledge base, ability and skills of the enforcement teams of Pemra to carry out purposes of the Authority in letter & spirits to minimize margin of error in implementation of its laws.
