MQM, MWM teams hold separate meetings with interior minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday said that the operation in Karachi was being conducted against criminal elements and every effort will be made to remove the reservations of the political parties but it was in the national interest that they all should support the Rangers. The interior minister was talking to a delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), led by Dr Farooq Sattar here on Tuesday. They discussed the law and order situation in Sindh, the Interior Ministry spokesman said.MQM leaders Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Barrister Saif and Kanwar Naveed Jamil were part of the delegation. They talked about the law and order situation in Karachi.Ch Nisar said the operation in Karachi was particularly against criminals as its aim was to make the city peaceful and free from crime.The activities of Rangers are according to rules and regulations and the aim is not to push any political party, including Muttahida Qaumi Movement, to the wall, he added. Peace in Karachi was in the national interest and a common responsibility of all, he added. Meanwhile, a delegation of Majlis Wahadatul Muslimeen (MWM), led by Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, held a meeting with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan at the Punjab House and discussed the overall situation in the country. The members of the delegation, including Maulana Ameen Shaheedi, Asad Abbas Asadi and Nasir Sheerazi, discussed matters related to the security of the Shia community.The minister said the government’s top priority was to provide complete security to Shias and remove their reservations. The delegation said Majlis Wahadatul Muslimeen is in the front ranks for national interest and honour.
