LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Altaf Hussain has requested Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif to order an inquiry into the allegations levelled against former chiefs of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
In a statement he said: “I hope you (Gen Raheel) will order an impartial inquiry into the federal ministers’ allegations against two former ISI chiefs.” He said the ministers had alleged that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sit-in in Islamabad last year was planned by former Lt-Gen Zaheerul Islam, who arranged funds for the protest through the corporate sector.
Altaf alleged that the Rangers did not raid the restaurant of Haq Parast MNA Ali Raza Abidi, rather the Rangers had committed dacoity by taking various items from his restaurant.
He said a couple of days back the Rangers raided the restaurant of MNA Ali Raza Abidi and took away the computer of the restaurant, a laptop, CCTV recordings, cash from the counters and other valuable items from the restaurant besides picking up few people who were present there.
He said this action has proved that the Rangers, who were earlier involved in kidnapping for ransom and extortion, now have started looting the people under the garb of raids and arrests.
He said the Rangers were not providing security to the lives and properties of the people but had started acting like dacoits making lives of the people miserable. He asked General Raheel to take immediate notice otherwise he would have to answer before the Almighty on the ‘Day of Judgment’.
Altaf strongly condemned the kidnapping and torture of prominent journalist Faheem Siddiqui by plain-clothed policemen. He said the incident of torture and kidnapping of Faheem must be investigated and those who are involved in this crime be arrested and given exemplary punishment.
