ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday released the audited details of the political parties’ assets for the financial year 2013-14 with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, leading as the richest party.
According to the Article 13 of the Political Parties Order 2002, political parties are required to submit the details of chartered accountant- audited consolidated statement of party accounts to the ECP.
Under the law, a political party is bound to provide information about annual income and expenses, sources of its funds, assets and liabilities within 60 days from the close of each financial year.According to the ECP, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is the richest political party with total income standing at Rs210.88 million during the financial year 2013-14.
In its statement, the MQM has revealed that Rs210.21 million was collected through donation and funds. The ruling PML-N`s income is Rs10.67 million whereas expenses were Rs30.07 million. It has total assets worth Rs70.47 million.
The PTI has expenditures of Rs160.17 million while its income was Rs100.27 million. It has Rs90.15 million in its bank accounts.Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) income was Rs10.45 million while the expenses were Rs20.54 million. Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) income was Rs. Rs800,000 and the party spent Rs3 million during the entire financial year.
