Sarfaraz Bugti says RAW involved in country’s unrest

QUETTA: Provincial Home Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Tuesday said that the Indian intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), was involved in creating unrest in Balochistan.
Accompanied by Deputy Inspector General Frontier Corps Brig Tahir Mehmood and other senior officials at a press conference here, he also demanded declaring the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) a terrorist organisation and banning it.
Bugti said that the BBC documentary had proved that the Indian intelligence agency RAW was involved in creating unrest in Pakistan. It was also involved in the unrest and the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan, he added.
The home minister said RAW was behind the conspiracy to hurt peace in Balochistan and Karachi. He alleged that this foreign agency was patronising the MQM to worsen law and order in Karachi. “Our security forces have foiled the nefarious designs of RAW by recovering a heavy cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives from different areas,” he added.
Giving details, he said that the law enforcement agencies, including the Frontier Corps, police and Anti-Terrorist Force, jointly conducted raids in the Majak area of Qila Abdullah, arrested three smugglers and recovered a heavy cache of weapons and ammunition, including hundreds of mortars, 74 rocket launchers, two SMGs along with 850 rounds, two rifles along with 4,680 rounds, 12 other rifles along with 100 rounds and seven magazines and a telescope.
He said that raids were conducted in the Khanozai area of Pishin where security forces recovered IEDs, 60 Kalashnikovs, 204 pistols, 245 pistols magazines and thousands of LMG rounds. He said that law enforcement personnel also launched an operation against terrorists in Dera Murad Jamali and recovered one RPG 7, three rocket mortars, four SMGs along with 1,000 rounds and 10 rifles along with rounds.
Bugti said that during the law enforcement agencies operation in Bolan, recovery of one RPG 7 along with eight mortars, two LMGs, four SMGs and several rifles along with thousands of rounds was made.
Replying to a question, he said that some people were killed in a clash between two groups in Dera Bugti and Kohlu areas. “Two groups had attacked each other with weapons in Dera Bugti and Kohlu which claimed the lives of some people,” he added. He confirmed that security forces werecontinuing an operation in some areas of the province.
