ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said on Monday there was no record of 25 million votes with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), then how these elections could be called free and fair.
He said about 80 to 90 per cent of Forms 15 were missing in Balochistan adding that it was selection and not election in the province. He said the demonstration by Tahirul Qadri was justified, while the PTI agitated for the establishment of the Judicial Commission.
The PTI chairman said there would be no justification for the government to stay if riggingwas proved. Imran alleged that the ECP was in cahoots with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Speaking to the media after hearing of the Inquiry Commission, formed to probe election rigging, Khan said the ECP had shifted its position, hidden material and misled the Commission.“The ECP in the beginning gave us the impression of remaining neutral but there has been no neutrality in what has happened inside the court. They have coordination with the N-League,” he said.
Khan said his party had provided evidence to the Commission. Meanwhile, PTI National Organiser Shah Mehmood Qureshi said his party would not tolerate any criticism against the armed forces as they were offering matchless sacrifices for the country.
He said the PTI was struggling to end VIP culture and was determined to bring ‘change’ in the country. He was speaking at the ceremony where local politician, Mazhar Hussain Mashhadi, joined the PTI.
He criticised the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for not properly handling the heatwave crisis in Sindh, particularly in Karachi, which resulted in deaths of over 1,200 people. -INP/Online/NNIOur Lahore correspondent adds: Imran Khan predicted that “two more wickets” of the present government would fall within the next two weeks.
Addressing a gathering of party workers, the PTI chairman said massive rigging was done in the last general elections. He said the results in the constituencies of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and the one from Jehangir Tareen contested would come to surface in the coming days and predicted the government would suffer a loss.
Imran claimed that Judicial Commission probe would prove the PTI viewpoint and general elections would take place at the end of this year. Imran urged the party workers to set aside their differences and focus on the local government elections, adding that rifts in the party would benefit the PML-N.
He admitted that the party suffered some loss due to last intra-party polls but it was time to learn from mistakes which would be rectified in the upcoming elections of party organisations. He said upcoming intra-party polls would be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
The PTI chairman said real face of MQM had been exposed and the PTI’s standpoint regarding Muttahida that it was a terrorist organisation had been proven by international media. Imran also criticised the PPP government in Sindh and held it equally responsible for the deaths of citizens in Karachi and other parts of province.
The ceremony was also attended by various party leaders. Meanwhile, Imran also addressed a fund-raising ceremony of NUML University and donated Rs 1 million to it.
