ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday summoned its Permanent Envoy to the United Nations (UN) Dr Maleeha Lodhi to Islamabad after a decision was taken to raise the issue of Indian interference in Pakistan at the United Nations (UN). Pakistan decided to raise its voice against the Indian actions intended to undermine Pakistan’s security, reported a private TV channel.Earlier, Pakistan had been conveying its concerns over the Indian involvement in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan, to the Indian leadership. Moreover, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Bangladesh had proudly admitted to the Indian role in the dismemberment of Pakistan. It showed that the Indian leadership had never accepted Pakistan and had been trying to destabilise the country to damage it on all fronts. In view of the recent development, particularly after the BBC report which clearly blamed RAW for funding the MQM and for training its workers to carry out subversive activities in Pakistan, the government in Islamabad had decided to write a letter to the UN Secretary General, raising the issue of Indian involvement in the internal matters of Pakistan. Dr Maleeha Lodhi will also hold meetings to evaluate the situation, particularly in the backdrop of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s address to the UN General Assembly in September this year.In a meeting held at the Foreign Office, the government decided to raise the issue of India’s anti-Pakistan actions in both the United Nations and the Security Council. Dr Maleeha Lodhi had also been summoned to Islamabad where she would hold a discussion with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the issue. She would also hold meetings with the foreign affairs team. Dr Maleeha Lodhi would also attend a meeting at the Foreign Office likely to be chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is also holding the portfolio of foreign minister. The meeting would be attended by Adviser to the PM on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to the PM on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary Azaz Ahmed Chaudhry and others. The session also discussed the BBC report on the MQM’s funding from India and the statements given by MQM leaders to the London Police.Allegations of the MQM’s funding from India and its workers being trained there had recently surfaced in a BBC report. MQM leader Tariq Mir had also confessed to Indian funding to the MQM in a statement. The meeting also discussed the terror activities in the country. The sources said that evidence of Indian involvement in the terrorist activities taking place in Balochistan had also been gathered.
