HYDERABAD: Sindh United Party (SUP) chief Jalal Mahmood Shah has claimed to offer a better alternative to the people of Sindh, saying they are ready to contest the forthcoming local bodies elections in the province.
He was talking to the media at an iftar party, hosted by the SUP district Hyderabad in his honour here on Sunday. Shah said if the PPP government is unable to deliver and run affairs skillfully, they should surrender as people are unhappy due to price hike, worst law and order, kidnapping for ransom and poor performance of institutions.
The SUP leader said the country is passing through the severe crisis and definitely it impacts on Sindh. The center and provincial government are fighting over petty issues while the poor people are facing disastrous heat waves in Karachi and the other urban and rural areas together, in which about 1,500 people were killed and several others are in hospitals fighting for their survival.
He said from Kashmore to Karachi, the people are facing an acute water shortage. The government is spending Rs30 billion through town municipal administrations (TMAs) in Sindh, but actually the entire funding allocations is going to the pockets of certain ruling elites instead of the development of the people.
He said “though we have reservations against Punjab and central government, it seems the Sindh government has failed to plea its case carefully to get rights.”“We see the provincial government is not able to run affairs of institutions, hence they should surrender instantly.
When the democratic institutions have become bankrupt through corrupt political parties leaders and bureaucracy who will resolve the problems of people.”He also criticized the recent delimitation of constituencies in Sindh and said despite this happening they will take part in the LB polls. He appreciated the action against the corrupt politicians and bureaucracy, but saying it should be equivalent from top to bottom, from ministers to low-grade officials in the national interest and get back the looted money and restore the institutions, which have been ruined through corruption.
About MQM’s involvement of funding sources, the SUP said it is responsibility of the federal and provincial governments to initiate probe in the light of evidences and the MQM may clarify in front of the courts.
