ANF recovers 15 tons of narcotics worth Rs42.2 billion

RAWALPINDI: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in its war against drugs, has carried out six operations in different parts of the country and seized huge cache of narcotics, which included 1.53 ton heroin, 13.4 tons charras, 28 kilograms morphine, 157 kg opium and 480 grams Ice (Amphetamine).
Four persons involved in drug trafficking were also sent behind the bars and a vehicle being used for drug transportation was seized, says a press release issued here on Sunday by ANF.According to ANF, the value of the recovered drugs amounts approximately to Rs42.2 billion in international market. Most of the seized drugs were destined abroad.
ANF Quetta has carried out an intelligence led operation and seized 1.49 ton heroin (Brown) from uninhabited area of Killi Dagar, Tehsil Barshore, District Pishin.According to detail, heroin was stuffed in large number of plastic sacks, which were hidden at a deserted site situated in the cuttings of mountainous terrain far away from populated area.
As per initial reports, drug consignment was dispatched by a narcotics smuggler namely Haji Mehmood Ali Zai, based at Helmand, Afghanistan and was received by Haji Wali Muhammad Baloch, a notorious drug dealer based at Brabcha, Balochistan. The drug consignment was intended to be shifted at some safe location situated at coastal belt of Balochistan.
Finally, the drug consignment was intended to be smuggled abroad via sea route on receipt of safe signal.ANF Peshawar on pursuance of an intelligence report, has also conducted a raid near village Garyalla, Shahbaz Garhi, Rostam Road, Mardan and seized 13 tons charras, 157 kg opium, 46 kg heroin and 28 kg morphine stocked at an isolated site outside the populated areas.
As per preliminary information, drugs were placed at a cache site for handing over to another narcotics gang.In another recovery, ANF Rawalpindi Airport team during routine profiling at Benazir Bhutto International Airport detained a passenger, identified as Muhammad Ilyas, resident of Muzaffarabad on suspicion of carrying drugs. During search of his luggage one kg heroin was recovered from trolley bag. The accused intended to take off for Colombo via Doha by Qatar Airline flight no. QR-617.
ANF Sialkot Operational Team also seized a parcel containing sports items at TCS courier office, Sialkot City and recovered 444 gram heroin tactfully concealed inside the cricket balls and boxing gloves.
According to details, the consignment was booked by a person namely Asad Khan resident of Peshawar and was intended to be received at Warden Avenue, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.ANF Multan Airport Team intercepted a passenger namely Zahid Mehmood resident of Sargodha at Multan International Airport and recovered 480 Ice (Amphetamine) concealed in his trolley bag. The accused was to board for Jaddah by Shaheen Airline Flight no.NL-701.
In a raid, ANF Karachi Road Check team on pursuance of a source information, intercepted a suspected mini truck mazda, registration no.KG-0153 at Hub River Road, Karachi. The detailed search of the vehicle led to recovery of 400 kg charas, which was concealed in secret cavities of the vehicle. Two occupants of the vehicle, driver and helper, identified as Muhammad Umer and Muhammad Arif, respectively were also arrested. As per initial information, vehicle was coming from Balochistan and heading towards Karachi city.Cases have been registered at respective ANF police stations while further investigations are under process.
